PGUK: Striving for Perfection with Six-Sigma

How Does Your Business Measure Success?

Panoramic Group UK is proud to implement the Six-Sigma approach, a “disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology for eliminating defects in any process – from manufacturing to transactional and from product to service.”

“Speed is everything.  It is the indispensable ingredient to competitiveness.” – Jack Welch.

Define – Measure – Analyse – Improve

Implementing a measurement-based strategy focusing on ‘variation reduction’ and ‘process improvement’ forms the fundamentals of the Six-Sigma methodology.  The Six Sigma DMAIC process (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) is an improvement system for existing processes falling below specification and looking for incremental improvement.

Companies all around the world have ‘discovered’ and ‘implemented’ the Six Sigma framework and methodology.  A case study on General Electric reports “benefits on the order of $10 billion during the first five years of implementation.”

Has your company benefited from the Six Sigma methodology?

Improve Your Home in 5 Easy Steps

Ready to Improve Your Home Like a Pro?

The start of summer is the perfect time to get your house in order, so in the spirit of this, we would like to share with you 5 easy steps to improve your home.  Why not make this the time you finally get to make your dream space a more comfortable, better organised, happier place.

Bring The Sparkle

When you invite people to your home, the first thing they see is your door(s), and nearby windows so don’t leave your visitors with a poor first impression.  It’s the perfect time of year to bring some added sparkle and shine to your Panoramic Door System, front door, and windows.

There’s no need to call a professional every time. Sometimes the most basic home ingredients can make an effective deep cleaning solution. For best results, use lukewarm water and diluted white vinegar in a spray bottle and remove the liquid with a clean microfibre cloth.

Don’t Use It?  Bin It

Start by getting rid of your hoard! Take the time to clear out your cupboards, drawers, cabinets, and shelves. It may seem like a daunting task, but one that can genuinely exhilarate so be ruthless!

Start by sorting out what should stay and what should go and remove absolutely everything that’s not meant to be there.

Replenish and organise your supplies and rid your space of the things you no longer need or use. Before you bin the lot, think about contacting your local charity aid for pick up or drop items at your local recycling unit.

Steam Clean

The start of summer is an excellent time to think about rejuvenating your carpets and floor tiles with a deep steam cleaner. There are so many more reasons to have your carpets cleaned other than, they just look dirty.

Did you know if your carpets look dirty, you have actually waited too long? Yes, that’s correct; most carpet manufacturers recommend you have your carpets cleaned once a year regardless of how they look.

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a designer to choose a fantastic paint colour for the rooms in your home. Instead, choose colours that put a smile on your face, such as a favorite hue that you’ve always had in mind. New colours for your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, or home office are a great way to improve your home.

A Fresh Lick of Paint

Give your home a fresh, new look by updating your interiors with a new paint colour. By adding new colours to your walls, you can instantly transform your home, making it feel more inviting and personalised.

Be Energy Efficient

You can have some energy-hogging habits in your own home that may be causing you to use more energy and spend more money. The average household uses £1249 a year in heating and power, so why not promote a more energy efficient home by implementing small changes? Consider using less water, turning off standby appliances, or install a smart thermostat in your home.

We hope you put into practice our top tips for an improved home!  Don’t forget to like, share, comment and keep in touch by SUBSCRIBING to our Stay in the Loop blog spot.

5 Easy Ways to Secure Your New Home

5 Easy Ways to Secure Your New Home

How Secure is Your New Home?

Figuring out the best ways to secure your new home doesn’t need to be a daunting task, it can, in fact, be an exhilarating one by bringing you added peace of mind.  But, what can you do to ensure your new home is as safe and secure as possible from chance burglars?

Check out our top 5 tips and investments for a secure new home.

.

Check Your Doors

Did you know, thirty-four percent of burglars walk in through the front door?  As obvious as it sounds, why not start by checking how secure your external and internal doors are.

By periodically checking the integrity of hinges, frames, and letter boxes and by investing in a high-security locking system you will promote a safer space and pick up on repair jobs before a chance attack occurs.

Lock Your Windows

“There are roughly 2.5 million burglaries every year, and sixty-six percent are home break-ins”. What’s more surprising is that these break-ins don’t occur when we’re safely tucked in bed, but commonly during the day, “between 10 AM and 3 PM.”

Unfortunately, manufacturer latches on windows aren’t always effective—and sometimes they’re downright flimsy.

Advanced solutions such as the Hidden Sash Tilt & Turn Window by Panoramic effectively adds an extra layer of protection by concealing the ‘hinges’ and ‘handles’ within the sash and frame.  Alternatively, consider triple glazed re-enforced glass, window bars or sensors for added security.

The Rise of the Smart Home

“Gadgets that help you run and control your home by using your voice rather than walking over to your wall light, thermostat or high-fi are becoming part of the new technologically driven norm.”

Smart home automation reinforces home security by giving you real-time alerts about suspicious activity, so you can act quickly before any incidents occur.  Thanks to significant advances in technology, you can now safely monitor who is walking up to your driveway or ringing your doorbell from any location!

Introduce Smart Lighting

According to the Independent, “Philips was the first company to create smart lighting and remains at the forefront of the technology” but, can the use of smart home lighting really be an effective burglar deterrent?

The Ambient asked a ‘reformed’ burglar if smart lighting measures genuinely make a difference to home security.  He explains: “Good security puts us off the most. You walk into a garden and the light goes on, and the first thing you see is, ‘Smile, you are now on CCTV’ then, yes, that stops us in our tracks.”

Smile… You’re on Camera

“Burglars are most likely to be put off breaking into homes by CCTV security cameras and barking dogs.” According to a panel of former criminals, if you invest and install a security camera, ‘your home is 300% less likely to be broken into compared with homes without surveillance cameras.’  This makes it an extremely effective deterrent.  Not to mention that security camera footage helps assist the police in identifying thieves!

Do You Have a Home Security Tip?

The most effective crime prevention measures come from anticipating what might happen.  So going forward, consider where you store your high-value items and implement the above tips one at a time for a safer more secure new home.

If you have a home security tip of your own, don’t forget to like, share, comment and SUBSCRIBE to our Stay in the Loop blog!

Top 5 Tips for Improved Indoor-Outdoor Living

Top 5 Tips for Improved Indoor-Outdoor Living

Improve the Flow!

As the trend of indoor-outdoor living grows increasingly popular, it’s fair to say that homeowners are now spending as much time and energy improving their outdoor space as they do an ‘indoor’ room, but, what is indoor-outdoor living? Moreover, how do you achieve it?

We’ve outlined our top 5 tips to achieve improved indoor-outdoor flow.

1. Connect the Spaces

One of the most popular ways to enhance indoor-outdoor living in your home is connecting the spaces through the use of ultra-modern bi-folding slide-and-pivot doors.  These do a great job in allowing an extension to be opened up dramatically, and their distinctive hinge-free design allows homeowners to utilise their space with total flexibility and control.

2. Introduce an Outdoor Structure

Defining areas of your back garden or patio area is easy through the use of a well-placed structure.  Consider investing in an outdoor over-hang to give your space depth, character, and a sense of directional gathering.  The use of these structures makes it easy to define specific areas of your “outdoor room.”

3. Extend Your Interior Style

Extending your interior furnishings into your outdoor living space is another excellent way to improve your homes natural ‘blended flow. Use the same colours and materials from your home as either the primary or accent materials for the most cohesive design. The result is a visually appealing background that harmonises with the home’s architecture.”

“Outdoor entertaining areas are often heavy on the hard surfaces; counteract this by softening the space with outdoor friendly cushions and greenery such as potted plants or even vertical gardens.”

4. Keep The Floor Flowing Throughout

In line with extending your home furnishings throughout your patio area, another great way to maximise flow is to continue your floor tiles out into your outdoor room. “This consistency creates spaces that flow together and makes the exterior room feel more like a contiguous extension as your guests step outside.”

Travertine is one example of a paving stone product that functions well, is durable, and looks great indoors and out. Etched concrete is another option that can be carried from an interior room to an outdoor space and if you do not plan to replace existing flooring inside, paving stones are likely your best bet when creating an adjacent outdoor space.”

5. For The Love of Light!

The chances are you will be utilising your outdoor space to entertain, so it’s essential to consider the correct lighting to compliment the style and mood of your home. “Consider softer lighting for your outdoor rooms as it is an important part of creating a relaxed, inviting atmosphere for gatherings.”

“Lighting that gradually softens as you move farther away from the door connecting the spaces is generally best, but also remember that the light from your indoor space may be adequate for this transition if there is a large opening between the two spaces.”
